Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
Removing an old boat in Thompson near the Quinebaug River often turns out to be more complicated than expected. Boats may contain fuel, oil, and chemicals that must be drained. The AAA Rousse crew will take down the mast, clear off the gear and electronics, and cut off the flybridge if we have to, to get the job done. The majority of larger vessels are not permitted in landfills unless they undergo crushing or demolition. Trust the AAA Rousse professionals to take care of everything.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
West Thompson Lake draws boaters from across the region, and when vessels reach the end of their useful life at the West Thompson Recreation Area boat launch or along the Quinebaug River, owners need a reliable removal crew. Aging aluminum fishing boats, waterlogged canoes, and neglected motorboats are among the most common removals, often left half sunk at the shore or tied to a rotting dock.
In East Thompson and along Route 193, many owners store old boats in driveways or behind garages for years before calling for removal. Thompson Lake Campground sees seasonal boats abandoned at the end of summer, left on trailers with flat tires or sunk into soft ground. Our crew handles every scenario, from overgrown backyard hulls to boats wedged against culverts after flooding.
