Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
Pitman residents near Lake Nokomis often discover that old boat disposal is anything but simple. Fiberglass disposal is challenging and limited in facilities. Our crews dismantle masts, clear the boat of gear and electronics, and remove the flybridge if required. Most large boats need to be crushed or dismantled before a landfill will accept them. We’ve got it covered - let AAA Rousse take care of everything for you.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boat removal calls in this area frequently involve vessels left at Lake Glenn Shoals and the surrounding launch areas after seasons of neglect. Owners find that aging pontoons and motorboats stored near the Coffeen Lake shoreline deteriorate quickly, making self removal unsafe. Titles lapse, hulls crack, and what started as a weekend boat becomes an environmental and legal liability requiring professional extraction.
Inland waterways like the Kaskaskia River also generate removal requests when flooded or storm damaged boats are stranded on private property or public banks. South Fork Sangamon River corridors see similar situations after heavy rains push vessels off makeshift moorings. In these cases crews must coordinate with landowners and sometimes county officials to safely recover and dispose of the hull without further damage to surrounding land.
