Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
The reality is that boat removal is often much tougher than it seems for Somer area residents, particularly for hulls retrieved from Boneyard Creek. Some older vessels often contain asbestos insulation. Our Teams take off the masts, clear out the boat’s gear and electronics and cut off the flybridge if needed. Larger boats usually need to be crushed or demolished before a landfill will take them - and our team takes care of that process. You just sit back - AAA Rousse takes care of the rest.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Around Somer and the broader Somer area, many boat removal calls come from owners who stored vessels near Saline Branch and let registrations lapse over several winters. Others contact us after a hull becomes waterlogged or sinks at a dock near Kaufman Lake. Homer Lake Forest Preserve access points also see abandoned aluminum fishing boats left behind after seasons of light use.
Deteriorated pontoons and jon boats that sat behind homes for years are another common scenario, especially for owners near Lake of the Woods who no longer have a tow vehicle. Vessels with rotted decks or cracked hulls sometimes end up half submerged near Crystal Lake Park after storm surges. Boneyard Creek corridor cleanups have also brought requests for quick waterway extractions of neglected craft.
