Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
What seems like a quick fix, getting rid of an old boat in Backus, can become complicated. There is always a risk of spills into waterways like Lake St. Helen or streets from fuel while transporting. Our AAA Rousse Team will take down the masts, remove all gear and electronics, and, when necessary, detach the flybridge. Because landfills don’t accept most large vessels as-is, we handle the crushing or demolition when needed. Let us do the heavy lifting - AAA Rousse has it handled.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Many boat removals in Backus begin after vessels are found abandoned along the shores of Marl Lake or left unattended at informal access points near the upper Muskegon River. Owners sometimes forfeit watercraft following mechanical failures mid season, leaving boats that block navigation channels or create safety hazards. In these cases, Roscommon County coordinates with licensed contractors to assess, document, and remove the vessel promptly.
Other common situations involve boats stored on private land in Sherman Township without owner consent, requiring legal notice before removal can proceed. Watercraft pulled from Prudenville Marina after prolonged nonpayment of slip fees also enter the removal process regularly. Whether a boat is adrift, abandoned on shore, or left in a storage area, established removal procedures ensure the waterway and surrounding land are cleared safely and efficiently.
