Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
The reality is that boat removal is often much tougher than it seems for Mohawk area residents, especially those with boats on Lac La Belle. Some older vessels often contain asbestos insulation. Our Teams take off the masts, clear out the boat’s gear and electronics and cut off the flybridge if needed. Larger boats usually need to be crushed or demolished before a landfill will take them - and our team takes care of that process. You just sit back - AAA Rousse takes care of the rest.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boat removal in this remote corner of Keweenaw County often involves vessels left at the McLain State Park boat launch or along the shores of Lake Medora, where winter ice and isolation accelerate deterioration. Owners frequently discover that sunken or damaged hulls on the Keweenaw Peninsula require professional crews equipped for difficult terrain and cold water recovery.
Abandoned pontoons and fishing boats pulled from the Gratiot River or left at the Bete Grise boat launch present another common scenario, as seasonal camps are sold and old vessels are simply left behind. Storage lots near Mohawk Hill also see neglected craft that need dismantling and eco conscious disposal before property transfers can be completed.
