Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
In Agency, the process of boat removal can turn out to be unexpectedly difficult. Many marinas or property owners want old boats removed quickly, but the process often takes longer than expected due to weather, time sensitivity, towing restrictions, and more at the Rathbun boat launch. Our crews remove masts, strip the boat of its gear and electronics, and cut off the flybridge if necessary. Larger vessels can’t go to a landfill unless we crush or demolish them. Let the AAA Rousse do all the work for you.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boat removal around Agency most often starts at Lake Rathbun, where aging hulls are abandoned at Rathbun Lake Marina or left partially submerged along the coves after seasons of neglect. Storm damage and mechanical failure push owners to walk away from vessels they once relied on, and retrieval from shallow or weedy water requires specialized equipment and experience that a standard tow service cannot provide.
Inland situations are just as common, with neglected boats sitting in yards or small storage lots well away from the water. Owners near Lake Wapello and along the Des Moines River corridor sometimes inherit vessels they never wanted, or find a boat they purchased years ago is now too deteriorated to sell. The Eldon Boat Ramp area also sees seasonal abandonments where trailers and hulls are simply left behind after a final outing.
