Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
Getting rid of a boat in Green Cove in Damascus that's seen better days can be a real struggle. Unstable boat hulls create safety hazards during transport. Our AAA Rousse Team will take down the masts, remove all gear and electronics, and, when necessary, detach the flybridge. Bigger boats usually need a little extra work, like crushing or demolition, before a landfill will accept them. We handle that step carefully, making sure it’s done the right way for both you and the environment. Let AAA Rousse professionals handle it all.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
In Damascus, small kayaks and canoes are commonly launched along Straight Branch and Beaverdam Creek for recreational paddling. When a vessel is abandoned or left unattended beyond the permitted period, Washington County animal control or public works coordinates removal. Owners are notified by posted notice, and unclaimed watercraft may be hauled to a designated storage area pending disposal or public auction.
Seasonal flooding near Mock Creek and the slopes below Iron Mountain can push unsecured watercraft downstream, creating debris hazards. In these situations, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries may partner with local contractors to recover and catalog displaced vessels. Documented owners have a set window to reclaim their property before the boat is processed for disposal under state abandoned watercraft statutes.
