Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
Franklin residents along the Coosa River often discover that old boat disposal is anything but simple. Fiberglass disposal is challenging and limited in facilities. Our crews dismantle masts, clear the boat of gear and electronics, and remove the flybridge if required. Most large boats need to be crushed or dismantled before a landfill will accept them. We’ve got it covered - let AAA Rousse take care of everything for you.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boat removal in Franklin most often starts at the Tallapoosa River, where aging vessels sit half submerged at informal launch areas or tied to deteriorating docks. Owners who once kept boats near the Thurlow Dam public access point frequently call us when those craft become unsalvageable. Flood damage, rot, and unpaid storage fees are the three most common triggers we see along this stretch of river.
A second common scenario involves boats left at dry storage lots or trailered hulls abandoned on private property near Lake Tuskegee. Estate settlements and insurance lapses in Macon County regularly leave families holding unwanted vessels with no clear plan. We also respond to calls from small docks along Yates Reservoir where pontoons and jon boats have sat out of service for years, requiring full dismantling and eco conscious disposal before the land can be cleared.
