Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
An old, junk boat in Hartwick off Milford Center Road often becomes a stubborn problem to solve. Barnacles and marine growth add weight, making the boat removal process more difficult. Our Teams take off the masts, clear out the boat’s gear and electronics and cut off the flybridge if needed. Most larger vessels are not accepted at landfills unless we crush or demolish them. Let us take care of it.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boats are commonly removed in Hartwick after storm damage pushes vessels off trailers or onto private shorelines along Cherry Valley Creek. Seasonal drawdowns at Schuyler Lake also strand small watercraft when water levels drop faster than owners expect. In both situations, Otsego County residents rely on licensed removal contractors who can safely haul vessels without causing additional environmental disturbance to surrounding wetlands and stream banks.
Fly Creek sees frequent canoe and kayak recoveries following spring flooding that sweeps unsecured craft downstream onto posted private land. Owners sometimes abandon aging motorboats along Pierstown Road after failed trailer inspections, leaving local authorities to coordinate licensed pickup. In each case, prompt removal protects water quality and prevents debris from becoming a hazard to downstream paddlers and property owners throughout the region.
