Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
The process of getting rid of a junk boat in Masardis on Big Machias Lake is often more challenging than it first appears. Boats partially sunk are extremely difficult to lift, float, and tow. Our work also includes removing masts, stripping out electronics, and, if necessary, reducing the flybridge. Larger vessels often require demolition or crushing before they can be disposed of at a landfill. We take care of this step for you, making the entire removal and disposal process smooth and stress-free. AAA Rousse - we do it all, so you don’t have to.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boat removal around Masardis most often starts with vessels left idle on the shores of Aroostook Lake or beached along the edges of Portage Lake after a season of neglect. Ice damage through the long Aroostook winters leaves hulls cracked and waterlogged, making a professional haul the only safe option. Owners also call when a pontoon has partially sunk at a private camp landing on Rock Pond.
A second common scenario involves stored boats abandoned at informal lots near the Aroostook Valley Trail corridor or left on trailers behind hunting camps off Route 11 near Umcolcus Stream. Frames rot quickly in the region's wet springs, turning a simple trailer pull into a full stabilization and lift job. Our crew handles every stage, from rigging a compromised hull to final eco conscious disposal.
