Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
What seems like a quick fix, getting rid of an old boat in Mertzon, can become complicated. There is always a risk of spills into waterways or streets from fuel while transporting. Our AAA Rousse Team will take down the masts, remove all gear and electronics, and, when necessary, detach the flybridge. Because landfills don’t accept most large vessels as-is, we handle the crushing or demolition when needed. Let us do the heavy lifting - AAA Rousse has it handled.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boat removal calls around Mertzon most often involve watercraft that have sat idle for years on private ranch land bordering the North Concho River, or vessels left at the E.V. Spence Reservoir boat ramp that owners can no longer retrieve. Deteriorating hulls in these remote West Texas settings require specialized flatbed rigging and route planning before the haul can begin.
A second common scenario involves small aluminum fishing boats abandoned near the paint rock crossing along the South Concho River, where shallow water and rocky banks complicate extraction. Crews also respond to calls from Irion County ranchers who have stored jon boats and bass boats in open fields for decades, with no trailer and no clear path to the road, making winch work and careful dismantling essential before transport.
