Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
Moscow residents in the Lower Georges Creek district are discovering that an old, dilapidated boat past its prime isn't easy to get off their hands. The large size and heavy weight of many boats are definitely a challenge while transporting. Our crews remove masts, strip the boat of its gear and electronics, and cut off the flybridge if necessary. Because landfills don’t accept most large vessels in one piece, we manage the crushing or demolition so you don’t have to worry about it. We handle it all - you just relax.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
In Moscow, abandoned and derelict boats most often appear along the North Branch Potomac River, where seasonal flooding can strand watercraft on private and public shorelines. Owners sometimes leave vessels after storm damage or mechanical failure, making removal necessary before debris worsens erosion. Allegany County residents may request assistance coordinating licensed contractors to haul out and properly dispose of these boats.
Smaller craft occasionally drift into Evitts Creek or are left at informal access points near Dan's Mountain State Park after a season of recreational use. When registration lapses or ownership cannot be traced, the removal process involves title research, a holding period, and coordination with state environmental officials before the vessel can be lawfully scrapped or recycled.
