Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
The process of getting rid of a junk boat on the Kaskaskia River in New Athens is often more challenging than it first appears. Boats partially sunk are extremely difficult to lift, float, and tow. Our work also includes removing masts, stripping out electronics, and, if necessary, reducing the flybridge. Larger vessels often require demolition or crushing before they can be disposed of at a landfill. We take care of this step for you, making the entire removal and disposal process smooth and stress-free. AAA Rousse - we do it all, so you don’t have to.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Along the Kaskaskia River, owners frequently need boats pulled from the water after flooding or long neglect leaves hulls buried in silt or wedged against banks. The New Athens Boat Launch sees regular calls for removal of vessels left behind by owners who can no longer trailer them out. Wrecks along Prairie du Long Creek add to the seasonal workload as waterways rise and strand neglected boats.
Carlyle Lake draws boaters from across the region, and each season brings removal requests for sunken or storm damaged vessels that have sat too long at the ramp or shore. Back on the Kaskaskia River, partially submerged hulls require specialty rigging and pump equipment before any haul can begin. The New Athens Boat Launch area also generates storage yard pickups when trailers are abandoned and titles have long since lapsed.
