Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
An old, junk boat in Rockville often becomes a stubborn problem to solve, as crews at Werner's Marina can attest. Barnacles and marine growth add weight, making the boat removal process more difficult. Our Teams take off the masts, clear out the boat’s gear and electronics and cut off the flybridge if needed. Most larger vessels are not accepted at landfills unless we crush or demolish them. Let us take care of it.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Boat removal around Rockville most often starts on the Kankakee River, where aging hulls are left tied to private docks or sunk in shallow bends after years of neglect. Owners at the Kankakee River State Park boat launch also call us when trailered vessels become too damaged to move on their own. Flooded storage lots and overgrown banks along Momence Road add to the call volume each spring.
A second wave of removals comes from inland properties in Kankakee County, where pontoons and fishing boats have been sitting on trailers in backyards for a decade or more. Werner's Marina sees regular requests after estate sales leave vessels unclaimed at slips. Fields near the old Illinois Central rail corridor also turn up forgotten boats that need cutting apart before they can be hauled to a recycling facility.
