Safe and Responsible Boat Disposal
Vinalhaven residents near Lane's Island often discover that old boat disposal is anything but simple. Fiberglass disposal is challenging and limited in facilities. Our crews dismantle masts, clear the boat of gear and electronics, and remove the flybridge if required. Most large boats need to be crushed or dismantled before a landfill will accept them. We’ve got it covered - let AAA Rousse take care of everything for you.
Common Boat Removal Scenarios
Abandoned and derelict boats surface throughout Vinalhaven each season. Vessels found drifting near Seal Bay or left unattended along the shores of Winter Harbor are among the most common cases our program handles. Owners sometimes lose track of moorings after storms, while others simply walk away from aging lobster boats that have reached the end of their working life.
Shoreline reports near Browns Head and complaints filed by residents around Grimes Park frequently prompt removal requests in Knox County. Sunken hulls blocking navigation, fire damaged fiberglass vessels, and unlicensed wrecks left on tidal flats all qualify for assistance. Our team coordinates rapid response to protect sensitive island ecosystems and keep working waterways clear for active fishing and ferry traffic year round.
