The carpet itself is only part of the job. Underneath sits padding that’s often glued or stapled to the subfloor, plus tack strips nailed around the perimeter with hundreds of sharp points. Those have to come up cleanly or your new flooring won’t sit right. We pull the staples too, since leftover staples telegraph through vinyl and laminate.
We handle every type: plush and berber, cut pile, commercial glue-down, and carpet tile. Glue-down and stairs take longer than a standard tack-strip install, and we’ll tell you that upfront rather than surprising you at the end.
Furniture is included, although there is an additional charge. We move it out of the room, work in sections, and put everything back or stage it where you want it. No need to empty the house first.

What Makes Carpet Removal Labor-Intensive
- Carpet removal is harder than people expect.
- The weight surprises everyone. Carpet is heavy, especially when it's rolled up. Add padding underneath and you've got rolls that take two people to carry. Commercial carpet is even heavier.
- Tack strips run along every wall. They're nailed down with serious nails. They have sharp tacks sticking up. You can't just leave them—they're a safety hazard and flooring installers need them removed.
- Adhesive makes everything harder. Glued-down carpet doesn't want to come up. The padding sticks to the subfloor. You end up scraping residue for hours. Sometimes it's so stuck you need special tools.

We cut carpet into manageable sections and rip it up. We remove padding underneath. We pull up tack strips along every wall. Everything that's not subfloor gets removed.
Adhesive and Residue
If carpet was glued down, we remove as much adhesive as reasonably possible. We're not refinishing your subfloor, but we'll get it to the point where flooring installers can work with it.
Complete Haul-Away
We load all carpet, padding, and tack strips in our trucks and haul everything away. We dispose of it at facilities that accept carpet materials.
